Warm November greetings to you from Houston Texas!

I spent the last two days in Irving, Texas at the National Educators for Restorative Practices (NEDRP) 2019 Conference. Being around so many amazing educators was awesome and inspiring.

I led a breakout session (see a clip below) for a group of educators and talked about the power of stories. Over the two day stretch I signed autographs, shook hands and took a thousand pictures.

Everything was amazing however the best part about the entire event? I was late to a breakout session so I was forced to stand at the back of the room. About five minutes later I hear a girl (in the hall behind me) asking a conference worker if she knew where Terry Keys happened to be… I smiled and poked my head out of the door and what happened next humbled me.

She cried in my arms for several minutes and thanked me for writing the book. She said it changed her life and it was her favorite book of all time! We talked about 20 minutes about some of the things going on in her life. This was a moment that I wasn’t expecting nor was I prepared for.

I’ve always known my purpose was to connect with youth and I’ve done it here and there. But I need to step my game up!
